Horizons

In 1993, Mr. D.R. Mehta (founder of BMVSS) decided to set up a centre for BMVSS in Mumbai, to extend their reach across India. Mr. Vijay Choraria (Managing Director of Crest Ventures) worked very closely with Mr. DR Mehta to setup and run this center from its inception.

The aim was to provide better access to prosthetics and other forms of aid for people with disabilities, enabling them to live independently and with greater dignity.

Our Mumbai branch embodies our commitment to supporting disabled individuals across diverse communities. It offers a range of services, including prosthetics and physical aids.

To further extend our reach, especially to areas without BMVSS centers, the Mumbai branch introduced a Mobile Van that can be set up within hours, enabling us to serve individuals through 2-4 day mobile camps. Ms. Nishka Choraria actively works with our team to ensure these efforts reach even the most remote parts of the country and beyond.

ABOVE & BELOW THE KNEE PROSTHETICS

Based out of the Orthopedic Wing at KEM Hospital, we provide treatment for conditions affecting the bones, muscles, and joints. Whether it's the intricate design of a below-the-knee prosthesis, offering enhanced flexibility and comfort for daily activities, or the robust construction of an above-the-knee limb, providing stability and mobility for more dynamic movements, we aim to cater to multiple requirements with precision and care.

Each prosthetic limb is meticulously crafted to fit seamlessly and function effectively, encouraging individuals to navigate their world with confidence and independence.

Mobile Camps

Each year, we organize mobile outreach camps spanning across various regions of India and internationally. These camps serve as a vital platform to ensure our services are accessible to individuals regardless of geographical constraints.

Our dedicated team travels to remote and underserved areas, including areas like Kashmir Valley and Ladakh where they have worked closely with the Indian army to deliver prosthetic limbs and essential support directly to those who require them most - striving to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families, one camp at a time.

Calipers & Hand-padalled tricycles

BMVSS provides essential support to individuals with motor disabilities, including those impacted by polio, by providing plastic calipers crafted from polypropylene sheets. These calipers come in three types: Ankle-Foot Orthosis, Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis, and Hip-Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis. Despite the eradication of polio in India, many affected individuals still turn to BMVSS for support.

For patients who have lost both feet or experience mobility limitations due to polio or other causes, BMVSS offers hand-pedaled tricycles adorned with the ISI mark. These tricycles, sparing them the need to crawl or rely on others for transportation.

Other mobility aids

Other assistive aids are tailor-made based on the needs of patients, including those experiencing profound hearing loss, by offering a range of assistive devices. Our services include the provision of hearing aids bearing the ISI mark, ensuring quality and reliability for patients in need of auditory assistance.

Additionally, we also provide wheelchairs and crutches adorned with the ISI mark, to enhance mobility. These aids are provided entirely free of cost to those in need, further reinforcing our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
